Come, Follow Me 2022 Old Testament Resources and Insights: Easter

I have loved studying the Old Testament so much so far this year! The discussions I have had with my family, so far have been amazing as well. I think it is because the Old Testament, testifies of Christ. We can bring Him into our discussions.

Last week, Israel was freed from Egypt, but came to the Red Sea. With faith and trust in God, Moses parts the Red Sea and Israel escapes the pursuit of Pharaoh.

This week, we are focusing on the Savior! We will discuss how the Old Testament prophets, prophesied of Him. Discussion will also include, His life, Atoning sacrifice and death and resurrection & what that all means for us personally.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as, insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

I love the Easter season, for the sheer reason, that we get to ponder more deeply on our Savior! It is at Easter and at Christmas, that more people turn their thoughts to Him.

I love this quote from this week’s Come, Follow Me study!! There is not a single soul that is not touched by the life of Jesus Christ! His atonement is for all of God’s children. His example, His teachings, His life and ministry are for all. His resurrection, made it so we ALL will be resurrected as well.

Christ truly is what unites all of God’s children, because whether they are aware of it or not, He has touched all of their lives, through His life ♥️

Today’s focus is on courage. Christ has the courage to cleanse the temple. He had the courage to go about His Father’s work, even if doing so would put His life in danger. He had the courage to endure the pains of the world and to ultimately face death, so that we all will live again.

His example of courage to us, can instill courage in ourselves. For me, being vulnerable takes courage, teaching Seminary takes courage, preparing to send my son out on a mission takes courage, let’s face it, just being a mom and letting your kids experience life, takes courage!! Where in your life do you feel like you need courage?? How has Christ help you have courage in the things you face in life?

Day 2:

As I have really studied the Old Testament this year, I have noticed how much it testifies and prophesies of Christ.

As we are preparing to celebrate Easter this weekend, I think that it is worthwhile to spend some time thinking about how the prophets in the Old Testament, prophesied and taught of the Savior and Redeemer of the world.

When I think of how the Old Testament prophesies and teaches of Christ, I think of it from the very beginning, with the creation of the world. I think of the relationship that the Lord had with God’s children from the very beginning starting with Adam and Eve and their children. The institution of the law of sacrifice. Sacrificing the first born unblemished male lamb in similitude of Christ. I think for Moses conversing with the Lord and the symbolism in the Passover and exodus from Egypt. Of course a prophet that comes to mind that prophesied of Christ is Isaiah. 💕

Why is this relevant to us? It’s relevant, because we believe that men are called of God, be believe in prophesy and we believe that our current latter day prophet and apostles are prophets, seers and revelators and special witnesses of Christ to the world. 💕

Day 3:

Peace is found as we turn to our Savior!! I loved listening to my students, share how they have found peace in Christ!! It made things come to my memory of when I have as well! I loved that we can be inspired by others.

I also know that our Heavenly Father truly knows each one of us and is aware of our needs. We had an experience tonight that could not have been a coincidence!! We were at the right place at the right time, to help someone! This experience was testament to me, that our Heavenly Father is aware of each of us & that he will use us to help those around us. We can find peace in that fact!

I invite you to ponder on the times when you have found peace in your life, through Christ ♥️

Day 5:

I love this quote!! It makes my heart sad when I hear that someone feels like the power of Christ’s atonement can not help, or reach them. When they feel like it can work for others, but just not for them.

I know with a surety Christ’s love for each of us and I know that His atoning sacrifice was for all. I also, know that even when we feel powerless, unloved or hopeless that our Savior is there with outstretched arms. Christ has that power and will forgive us when we repent, He will heal us from our heartache, He is there with us when we morn to comfort us and He is there with His enabling power to strengthen us! I know this to be true.

There is so much that each of us face in a day, trials, temptations and worries. The Savior is there always and we can find peace in turning to Him. We will never “bother” Him by turning to Him. Instead I believe His great desire is that we do turn to Him and yoke ourselves to Him!! ♥️

What are some things that worry you, trials and temptations you have experienced? How has turning to the Lord, helped you with those things?

Day 5:

Jesus has done everything for us, His life, His mission was for us! I love this quote, because it reminds me of the covenants that I’ve made. To stand by my Savior, to take His name upon me, keep His commandments and always remember Him.

As I have been pondering on the atonement this week, my heart is just full of so much gratitude for my Savior. It’s hard for me to even fathom the immense suffering that He endured. His love for us is so sure. I know, because I have felt of that love, at the times in my life that I really needed Him, the times when I felt alone. We truly are never alone though, Jesus is always there! ♥️ I can testify of that!!

Day 6:

I can’t help but think about what the people who loved Jesus, His followers, friends and family, were going through that day after His Crucifixion. I am sure they had feelings of sorrow having just seen someone they so deeply loved, die. Did they fully comprehend what was happening? My guess is that they were in waiting.

Sometimes too, we are in waiting upon the Lord. Sitting in our sorrows and trials. But as His disciples of old, the Savior came to them. He rose that third day, freeing us all from both physical & spiritual death. The Savior also comes to us amidst our sorrows and trials. I know this, He loves us & is always there!

I’ve also spent some time pondering today over those who rejected Christ. His love for them so perfect & sure. Even still there are those who continue to reject Him today.

The past few days I’ve had some pretty antagonistic comments about my beliefs about the Savior at this Easter time on one of my posts. Don’t go try & find them, they have been deleted. But they have caused me to ponder on my Savior and His followers throughout all time. There has always been that opposition, especially to the Savior of the world. I take so much comfort in my Savior’s example. As followers of Jesus Christ, we will possibly & even probably face times when our beliefs are attacked or questioned. We might feel like shrinking. But here is what we learn from the Savior. We stay steadfast & immovable, we keep our faith. We treat others with Love and Respect, even those with conflicting views. I am a firm believer in the 11th Article of Faith, “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.” Wouldn’t it be great if everyone abided by that 💕

I love my Savior & I will stand by Him & His gospel, as He continues to stand by me.
