Come, Follow Me 2022 Old Testament Resources and Insights: Exodus 1–6,

I have loved studying the Old Testament so much so far this year! The discussions I have had with my family, so far have been amazing as well. I think it is because the Old Testament, testifies of Christ. We can bring Him into our discussions.

Last week, we learned about the Christlike attributes that Joseph had, including the forgiveness that he gave to his brothers. We learned about how God is in the details of our lives, as he was with Joseph. Joseph was able to save his family and all of Egypt, because of being sold into Egypt and having the Lord with him.

This week, we are spending some time in Exodus. We learn about what life is like under the rule of the new Pharaoh and how God remembers his covenant people. We learn about Moses and the divine mission that God has instore for him.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as, insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

Sometimes, when we are in the midst of trial, we might call out wondering why God has forsaken us. But what I have found, is that God is most definitely there, especially in those times of trial.

He does not forget us, rather he can give us strength during those times of trial.

We are promised through our covenants, that as we keep our promises, then God is bound to keep His. One of those promises is that we will have His spirit to be with us. Through that gift of the Holy Ghost, we can access the power of the atonement. We can receive comfort and guidance. We can receive that enabling power to strengthen us. There is so much comfort in knowing that our Savior truly understands and He loves us! Our covenants, bind us to him.

The people of Israel, were strengthened in their afflictions as they remained faithful. We learn from this week’s study that God remembers and is with His covenant people!

Ponder on times in your life, when you have known God was with you in your trials 💕

Day 2:

I love reading about the blessings that came to the Israelites, in their afflictions. The more Pharaoh tried to place burdens upon them, the more they were blessed & increased in number.

We see the Lord’s hand in the details of the lives of his people, throughout the scriptures. God is keenly aware of us.

Don’t you love that we have a Heavenly Father who cares about even the seemingly insignificant things in our lives. If it is a concern to us, then he is there and He is listening. I’ve prayed before thinking, ya, this probably really isn’t a big deal, but right now to me it feels like it is. I know that if I think it is, then He thinks it is too & is listening.

There’s a great deal we can learn from this example!! Are we there for others, when they come to us, with something that seems like a big deal to them, or do we dismiss it, because it doesn’t seem like a big deal to us?

We can also learn as we place our faith and trust in God, that He will be there for us. We can also watch for the Lord’s hand when others serve us! & we can be his hands by listening to promptings and serving others. I feel like I’ve been a recipient lately. I’ve read some sweet messages that have buoyed me up in my day & helped me to feel like the things I do have value. We all want to feel valued & validated! I hope that I can be that kind of person for others, the one that validates & helps them feel valued!!

Here’s a great talk, I just love President Monson & all the experiences he shares:

Day 3: It's my son's Birthday... No post today.

Day 4:

Sorry I’ve been a little absent! There’s just been a lot going on in life this week & I’ve had to realized that somethings, take priority over others.

My family has needed me this week! Especially, the last two days.

There have been times through the week that I have felt a little overwhelmed. I have always felt comfort in the quote, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”—Philippians 4:13

It gives me comfort when I’m feeling inadequate or overwhelmed. To know that I do not have to do anything alone. Christ is always there. It doesn’t mean, we won’t have obstacles, it doesn’t mean things will be easy. But it does mean, we will have the Lord’s help in our life.

This morning my husband was in an accident & one of my sons was with him. He was doing a good deed & trying to help me out, taking our son to school for me, when he was hit by another vehicle, completely not his fault. I have found so much comparison from our study in Exodus, to this experience.

1st, even when we are doing good things, burdens may be placed upon us. As was true with Moses. As he tried to do God’s will in trying to free the Israelites from the burdens of Pharoah. More burdens were placed upon the Israelites & they blamed Moses.
2nd, Sometimes our burdens are because of the actions of others. As was true with the Israelites!
3rd, We can have faith in the Lord. We can try to see His hand, even in the difficult situations. I’m grateful that there were no serious injuries. Things have worked out with everyone getting where they needed to be, even with us being down a car. With Moses he was asked to keep his faith in the Lord & in his promises for Israel.

Sometimes, we will have burdens or obstacles placed in our way. Sometimes we might be overwhelmed or have feelings of inadequacy. We can draw strength from our Savior. His atonement is enabling. We can find the strength to press forward. To find joy amidst trials. We can know that the Lord will help qualify us, to fulfill all that is required of us, in fulfilling our mission and building his kingdom. That includes those responsibilities in our family, in our callings & even in our employment 💕

Day 5:

Don’t you love this quote!!! When we are serving, teaching, ministering, fulfilling our callings, etc, we are on the Lord’s errand and he will help us in our endeavors. He will give us strength & enable us. We can receive promptings and revelation. We can go forth with confidence that the Lord is with us, as we live worthy and seek his help.

Like Moses, at times we might feel completely inadequate. But we can have faith in the Lord, trust in him and trust in ourselves.

I have a testimony of this, because I have seen this ring true time and time again as I have felt inadequate in callings and in other areas of life. For me it comes down to striving to serve with all my heart, might, mind & strength, relying on the Lord’s help and guidance, having patience with my self, and loving those I serve.

How grateful I am that the Lord is with us and we don’t have to completely go about things on our own!!

Ponder on times in your life, when you have felt the Lord help you, when you’ve been on His errand.
