Come, Follow Me 2022 Old Testament Resources and Insights: Genesis 5; Moses 6,

I have loved studying the Old Testament so much so far this year! I have really had to dive in and be prepared, because I have started subbing as a seminary teacher. I have probably studied the Old Testament more this week, than I have in my entire life. The discussions we have had as seminary classes have been amazing. The discussions I have had with my family, so far have been amazing as well. I think it is because the Old Testament, testifies of Christ. We can bring Him into our discussions.

Last week, we discussed Adam and Eve, the temptations of the adversary and the role of the atonement in our lives. We discussed the fall, mortality and Adam and Eve's role as parents. As well as agency and what happens when we chose Christ and Repentance and on the other hand what happens when we don't.

This week, we discussed how prophets are seers, we learn about Enoch and though he felt inadequate he found trust in the Lord to fulfill his responsibilities. We discuss the important role of parents, in teaching their children the ways of God and we will discuss how the Savior and His atonement is essential and central to God's plan,

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as, insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

When I was 8 years old my Nana and Papa gave me a Book of Remembrance for my baptism. I love it so much now & I loved filling out the pages then. I also love that in it, are the testimonies of my Nana & Papa. So, when in Moses it speaks of a Book of Remembrance being kept, it resonated with me.

Throughout the years I’ve kept many different types of records. Journals, journals that had promptings, gratitude journals, scripture journals, digital journals, scrapbooks, entering things on family search, even Instagram I would count as a way of record & journal keeping.

Why is keeping a book of remembrance important?!? For me it helps to get my feelings out, it’s also a way to record spiritual thoughts and promptings & a way to record important events and photos.

I love reading stories of my ancestors that I find on family search. I also love seeing the pictures, it helps me feel connected to them. What I really love is reading their spiritual experiences.

One of my most cherished possessions is a book that my Nana made me, that is all about her & me. It tells me so much about her life. This book means so much to me!

I do feel like keeping a journal or a book of remembrance can help us remember the Savior, as we record when we see His hand in our lives ♥️

Listen to the Prophets

Day 2:

I feel so incredibly blessed to know that we have a living prophet!!! Someone who teaches us God’s ways, who receives revelation from God & who sees things with spiritual eyes. I know that I can trust the prophet, because I know that He is the Lord’s mouthpiece. My life has always been blessed as I have followed the prophet!

I love that we are studying about Enoch this week. That the Lord called him to do his work, and though he felt completely inadequate he trusted in the Lord and greatly fulfilled his call!

Prophets and Seers in Ancient Times

Day 3:

There have been many times throughout my life, when I, like Enoch, have felt inadequate. But also like Enoch, I found strength and courage, as I trusted in the Lord, that He would help me rise up and fulfill my callings to the best of my abilities! I love that, that is one of the blessings that come to us through the atonement of Jesus Christ. It is His enabling power.

This is His work, He will help us in that work, I truly believe that. So if at this moment you are felling inadequate, you are not alone. Many of us are as well & there is comfort and strength that comes from turning to our Savior and trusting in Him and in the responsibilities He has given you and has trust in you to do. ♥️

Duty Calls

Day 4:

The Doctrine of Christ, is so wonderfully explained in the 4th Article of Faith. It’s always been one of my favorite Articles of Faith!!

You can see as you read this Article of Faith why the Doctrine of Christ would be central to God’s plan of salvation!

How vital is our faith in the Savior and His atonement! What power is there in covenants and saving ordinances! And then there is the gift of the Holy Ghost! As I have learned more and more about the Holy Ghost I realize what a grand role he plays and how incredibly blessed we are to strive to live worthy of his companionship!!

I’ve been able to share my testimony of the Savior and His atonement several times in the past two weeks as I’ve taught seminary. I just want so much for each student to gain that deep testimony of the Savior, his love & the importance of the atonement in their lives! I love my Savior and I’m so incredibly grateful for all that he has done for each one of us!

Day 5:

If you could pass on anything to your descendants what would it be? For me, I would want them to know these things:

- I would want them to know who they are! That they have a loving Heavenly Father and have the potential to become like Him.

- I’d want them to know their Savior! To know the love He has for them and the power of His atonement! That He is always there.

- I’d want them to know the importance of the temple and covenants. The importance in making and keeping covenants with God. And the importance of families being sealed together.

- And I’d want them to know that safety comes from following the prophet. That he is the mouth piece of the Lord!

We teach those things and pass them on, as we make those things important in our life. As we live them and as we teach Christ’s doctrine to our children.

I loved today listening to the students share the things that have been passed onto them from their parents & grandparents & what things they think are the most important things, that they will want to pass on to their descendants. Our children learn from us, more then I think we really realize 💕
