Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 137-138 Resources and Insights,
This post contains affiliate links. See the full disclosure.
Last week, we studied the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum. How they sealed their testimonies of this restored gospel with their blood. We also discussed how the Lord will give you counsel for your journeyings.
This week, we will be learning about our Heavenly Father's eternal plan. We will talk about how important scripture study is in preparing us for revelation. And we learn about the work of salvation happening on both sides of the veil and how we can play a crucial role.
Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.
Day 1:
I love when it has quotes at the top of the Come, Follow me study. I loved this one, because it gives us counsel to thoroughly & thoughtfully read this week’s sections & that as we do we will gain a greater understanding and appreciation for God’s love and His plan ♥️♥️
I’m excited to study these verses and see what insights I gain, what Heavenly Father wants me to learn ♥️

Day 2:
Don’t you love Doctrine and Covenants 137?!? And don’t you love that a perfectly merciful Savior will be our judge. That He looks upon the desires and intents of our hearts ♥️ I love the simple, yet profound truths that we learn in this section. 1st how glorious the Celestial kingdom is! 2nd , that those who had not received the gospel in mortality, but would have, will be heirs of the Celestial kingdom. 3rd, “that all children who die before they arrive at the years of accountability are saved in the celestial kingdom” & 4th, that “the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts.”
What a comfort this is to all of us! To understand that our Heavenly Father is loving, kind and merciful. That His plan truly is a plan of happiness, where families are central to it. ♥️

Day 3:
I love this quote SO MUCH!! The Lord does not look upon our station, our status, our riches or anything else of worldly value. But rather we are seen as His. He has paid the price of our salvation. We are all given the same command, to repent and come unto Him.
As we strengthen our testimony of Him we come to know Him. We will desire to keep the commandments, because of our love for Him. I’ve loved the thought that preparing for exhalation in the celestial kingdom, means living the celestial law in mortality.
I love that we all will have an opportunity to accept Christ and His gospel or not. I know that for me, I wholeheartedly choose Christ. He brings peace and joy into my life. His love for us is so grand and so perfect. I’m so grateful for Him ♥️

Day 4:
As we were reading and studying as a family tonight, about how scripture study can lead to revelation, I had the thought come to my mind, that we receive revelation when we do those things that invite the spirit. Studying and pondering over scriptures is one of those things. Pondering gives the spirit the opportunity to enlighten our mind.
It’s one reason why I do these daily Come, Follow Me posts! It gives me the opportunity to read the scriptures and to listen to what stands out to me and to ponder over the things that I learn. It helps me to focus on my Savior and invite the spirit into my life.
I just simply want to fill my life with things that invite the spirit! What a blessing it is to have the spirit as our companion. I’m so grateful that each time we study the scriptures we can receive new insight and understanding. That we can receive revelation for our lives. ♥️♥️♥️

Day 5:
Tonight, I did two things, where I really saw joy! First, was I watched “The Christ Child” video and I saw the joy from the Wise Men, who had studied the coming of Christ. I could just feel their immense joy as they saw Jesus. Second, I was studying D&C 138 and read about the anticipation and the joy of those in the spirit world when the Savior came to visit them. These experiences with the Savior and joy were at two big milestones in the Savior’s life, His birth and His death and resurrection.
As I sit and ponder on that and what it means to me. I too find joy in the birth of our Savior. Joy, because I know all that He would do throughout His life and what a profound effect it would have on my life. I find joy in His atonement. It means so much that, I can overcome my mortal weaknesses and repent of my sins. I find joy in the fact that our Savior knows us so perfectly that he can always be there for us, whether it be to comfort us, or provide us with enabling power and strength. I find joy in His resurrection. With it comes the knowledge that death is not the end, but we will all live eternally and we have the opportunity if we live worthy to be exalted and live with our Father and Savior once again. I also, find joy in the preparations for His second coming. I know that as I focus on my Savior and continually prepare, then I will experience joy, as the time of His coming draws nearer. Whether I am here in mortality for that or not, I will one day stand before my Savior and I want to be filled with joy at that moment. 💕
I completely agree with this beautiful quote from our prophet. That our Savior is the source of joy!! ♥️
