Last week, we learned about how the Lord will lead us and that we can be servants in His hands. We also discussed how the Lord can work with even our follies.

This week, this week we will be learning about the name the Lord gave for His church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We learn about how we can be great examples and lead other to Christ. We also learn about sacrifice and the law of tithing and how it is used to build God's Kingdom here on earth.

Day 1:

I look at the early Saints in awe of the things they had to endure and the sacrifices they made. Not only did they endure them, but they continually rose up with faith in their hearts.

As members of Christ’s church, there will be times we will need to make sacrifices. There will be trials we face, where it might take every ounce of our faith to rise again.

I know though, whether it be the early Saints or us, what helps us to rise back up again, is indeed our faith and testimony of the Savior. It is He that gives us the strength to rise and the hope to press forward.

I believe that is why our prophet and apostles frequently encourage us to center our lives on the Savior, learn how to hear Him and allow God to prevail in our lives 💕

Day 2:

It makes perfect sense to me the emphasis on using the correct name of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

First off, it is what the Lord, Himself stated the church would be called, “For thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.” (D&C 115:4)

Second, if this is Christ’s church, wouldn’t it make sense that His name would be found within it? Our Savior sits at the head of this church, He is the focus of our church and it is from Him that our prophets receive their guidance.

I LOVE the promise that our prophet gives us, “I promise you that if we will do our best to restore the correct name of the Lord’s Church, He whose Church this is will pour down His power and blessings upon the heads of the Latter-day Saints, the likes of which we have never seen. We will have the knowledge and power of God to help us take the blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people and to prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord.” That is quite the promise!!! ♥️♥️♥️

The Correct Name of the Church

Day 3:

I love the fact that this scripture and instruction from the Lord, requires us to act. It says, “Arise and shine forth”. Which basically means that we need to rise and shine that light within us. That light comes from Christ. It grows as we center our lives on Him, as we keep His commandments and as we serve Him and others. It unites us as God’s children striving to build His kingdom.

I loved this quote from Elder Benjamín De Hoyos, “As we all teach and learn in His way and become more like Him, our light shines brighter and cannot be hid and becomes a standard to those who are looking for the Savior’s light.”

Ponder on ways you can “Arise & Shine forth”.

Day 4:

I really loved this quote about sacrifice. I look at our examples of sacrifice in this week’s Come, Follow Me lesson. Both Newel K. Whitney & Oliver Granger. Though their sacrifices were different, their reasoning for their sacrifice was the same. They both came from the heart & were out of love for our Savior and for the building up of His kingdom.

Ponder on your own life, what sacrifices is the Lord requiring of you? He wants our hearts. He wants the sacrifices we make, be because we love Him and that we trust in Him.

Our Savior is the greatest example of true sacrifice. He sacrificed His very life for us. Why? Because He loves us and because He loves His Father. His will is completely aligned with the Father and all that He does is to glorify Him.

It’s good, I believe, at times to give ourselves a heart check. What are our hearts set upon? What is the intent of our heart? Is our heart full of love for the Lord and our Heavenly Father? What I’ve found in this life is that it always comes back to how well we center our lives on the Savior! He is the way, the only way to return back to our Father♥️

Sacrifice Brings Forth the Blessings of Heaven

Day 5:

I have always felt a great urgency to pay my tithing. It’s because I know that there are blessings that come into our lives when we faithfully follow the law of the tithe.

I don’t have any grand stories, but things just seem to work out and I feel at peace, when we pay our tithing.

I found two great articles that I studied tonight. One gives a little bit more history in regards to D&C 119 & 120. The other focuses more on how we are blessed when we pay our tithing. I loved the quote by President Kimball. That tithing can be a blessing of safety and assurance of divine assistance. I need that in my life. I guess that’s why I feel an urgency. Is because I want to faithfully show that I will do what he asks, so I can receive that Divine assistance!! I don’t want to miss out on any blessings and help!!

I also loved what Steven C Harper said, “As they were taught the will of the Lord, the Saints became accountable stewards who could choose whether or not to pay their tithes of their own free will.” We have our agency, as with all God’s commandments. We are accountable stewards over what we have. We can choose to faithfully give or not. I strongly believe that as we use that free will to choose to keep the commandments, including the law of tithing we open the door to great blessings from our Heavenly Father ♥️

Day 6:

We learn from the early Saints that as they exercise faith, patience and long-suffering in their trials, their sufferings were consecrated for their gain.

As I was reading the scriptures tonight the word, “long-suffering” stood out to me. It may be because I’ve been sick with a head cold all day, or maybe because more than ever before I’ve seen so many around me going through some big trials. Long-suffering is having patience in our trials and enduring them well.

I loved this quote from Howard W Hunter, “Resistance creates both the opposition and the forward movement… We came to mortal life to encounter resistance. It was part of the plan for our eternal progress.”

Doesn’t it help to look at it (trials or resistance) with an eternal perspective!!

I look at those whom the Lord has called throughout history to be leaders and the many trials they faced. Including Joseph Smith. I can not look at his life without being in awe of the resistance he faced and the long-suffering he had to have. As well as the many great things he accomplished in his short life.

As we face adversity we are to make a choice. We can either let it help us progress and turn to our Savior and Heavenly Father, or we can choose to turn away or thwart our progression. In my trials, as I have turned to the Savior and allowed Him to yoke with me and partner up in carrying the load. My testimony and relationship with Him have been strengthened. I’ve learned that I can do hard things, especially with my Savior’s help. Blessings and growth have came into my life, as I’ve learned to be more empathic with others experiencing similar things. I hope that each of us will always choose to turn and grow closer to the Lord, partake of His atonement and allow Him to work wonders in our lives!! ♥️
