Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 111-114 Resources and Insights,

Last week, discussed temples and how the Lord blesses us in His holy houses.

This week, we will learn about how the Lord will lead us and that we can be servants in His hands. We also discuss how the Lord can work with even our follies.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

I could not help but think about this past weekend’s General Conference, as we began studying this week’s sections for Come, Follow Me.

One thing we study is, how can we keep our faith amidst trials. A few things came to my mind. First, Purify our hearts. It comes right from this week’s study in D&C 112. What is in our heart? Are our hearts filled with love of God and love for our Savior?

Second, I thought of President Nelson’s talk about foundations. How is our foundation? What things do we need to work on to strengthen our foundation, so when our faith is shaken, we can endure.

Third, do we recognize the love of God in our lives? That is something that helps me to remain faithful and feel closer to my Father in Heaven. To recognize the many ways He shows His love for us and so importantly, express appreciation for Him. ♥️

There may be times in our lives, maybe you are going through one right now. When faith is shaken and doubt starts to creep in. Just know, that God Loves you and the Savior is always there! Remember those times you’ve felt the Holy Ghost witness of them. Something I keep in my heart, it to always turn to our Heavenly Father & Savior, not away from them. ♥️♥️

Day 2:

We learn this week that the Lord says, “ I will order all things for your good, as fast as ye are able to receive them”.

For Joseph it was the Lord helping them gain knowledge and prepare the way for people to join the church in Salem. Even though that was not their intent of the trip.

I know he does this in our lives as well. Today, my hubby got back up on our garage roof to fix it. It was 2 1/2 months ago that he fell from a ladder from that roof and hurt his feet (which still are not completely healed). So, I was super worried about the whole thing!! I just kept praying that someone would feel prompted to come help. Well, my prayer was answered, maybe not in the exact way that I thought, but it was. My mother in law stopped by at just the right time and was able to run and get us more hornet spray. Then, about when we were finishing up for the night, because it was sprinkling and getting dark, a guy came up behind me, with gloves in his back pocket and asked if he could help. Even though it was as we were finishing up & he didn’t end up helping, I am so grateful that he listened to a prompting and came over, that kind gesture helped me to know that Heavenly Father heard my prayer.
What’s even more impressive is that I didn’t know this guy. I even watched as he left to see where he had came from.

What other unintended blessings came? I was able to be there and help my husband, if nothing else he could see my deep concern for him. Confidence was gained. It’s like when you get bucked off of a horse you’re supposed to get back on. Well he got back up on the metaphorical horse.

I know that our Father loves us and He truly does want to bless us. He can work things out for our good. He answers our prayers, even if it’s not in the exact way we think. He knows what is going to be of most benefit to us, at any given time ♥️

Here’s a great talk:

Day 3:

The Lord said in D&C 112:10, “Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers”. He says this in a revelation to Thomas B. Marsh.

This message is meant for us as well! It is pride that often gets us in trouble and keeps us from blessings. Pride turns our hearts away from the Lord, where humbly opens our hearts to the Lord and His direction.

I love that humbly means we are teachable! Really, we have so much to learn, that is why we are here in mortality. I think that we become more humble as we have a heart of gratitude. When we recognize that all we have comes from our Father in Heaven. ♥️

Here’s a great talk about humility & meekness:

I also loved this article about Thomas B Marsh. His explanation on what he felt caused his apostasy, is a must read:

Day 4:

As I was reading D&C 112 today, these words stood out to me, “I know thy heart, and have heard thy prayers concerning thy brethren.” (Verse 11)

I know that the Lord knows our hearts & hears our prayers. I found this great talk that speaks of the importance of our spiritual heart. If the Lord knows our heart, what would He find?

Is it a grateful heart, is it pure, is it teachable? Is it open to the spirit? Are we listening to our heart? These are all things that we can ponder on.

As we discussed this as a family tonight, I told them how the most important thing is that our hearts are focused on our Savior. There is so much going on each day. I think of my kids, who with school, homework and extra curricular activities barely have time to eat dinner. Those things are all good things, but I think it is absolutely essential that we remember throughout the day, our Savior and what He would have us do. We can do this even during our busy activities. Something that has impressed me, as my youngest has been playing football is watching him with his teammates. I happened to look over at the sideline at one of the games and saw him put his hand on the shoulder and walk with of one of their big linemen who had just gotten injured and came off the field. I was probably more proud of that moment, then anything else that he could have done in the game. It’s listening to our heart when it tells us to reach out and comfort a friend.

Anyways, here’s the link to the talk, I think it is a great one to study and ponder on:

Day 5:

This is such an important teaching to ponder on and to take to heart! I love that in the revelation to Thomas B Marsh, the Lord points out, “let thy love abound unto all men” (D&C 112:11) It also talks about purifying our hearts to Him and receiving His word.

I have a hard time watching the news and even scrolling through social media at times. It seems to focus on the conflict, the I’m right and your wrong, the comparisons and even just the worst parts of mankind. But, in the world around me, I see so much goodness. In my reality, I see people who jump to help when they see a need and they do it, not to receive recognition but, just because they are good! They are givers. I work with two marvelous groups of women volunteers at two local schools. These women give so much of their time, talents and resources!! I see texts go out about a need and immediate responses and needs fulfilled! I love surrounding myself we these good women who serve their fellowmen. We are supportive of each other and have the common goal of serving our students and faculty.

I truly believe that happiness enters into our lives as we center ourself on the Savior, as we use our love for our Heavenly Father as our motivating factor for the good decisions we make, when we try to see others as He does and as we love and serve. I also think it’s imperative to have a grateful heart! I am so grateful for those around me who are such great examples and help me see that the world really is filled with so much good!

Here’s a great talk from this recent General Conference 💕

Day 6:

One of my kiddos is teaching the lesson tomorrow in his quorum, so we were looking at the lesson, which topic is being converted unto the Lord. I loved Elder Bednar’s talk on the topic and his explanation that conversion brings a change with in us. If we are converted to the Lord, then our heart changes, we want to take up our cross and follow Him, like it states in D&C 112:14.

I also loved Elder Cook’s talk about building our foundation on Christ!! I also found a great lesson that went so well with it. I’ll give links to all of these below & on the blog.

When we build our foundation on Christ. Then we have faith in Him. He becomes the central focus of our lives. With that foundation, then we can withstand the trials placed before us. I feel like having a sure foundation in Christ means that we are converted unto Him. ♥️ He is the base that we form our whole lives off of.

What has helped you in your life, be more fully converted unto the Lord?
