Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 102-105 Resources and Insights

Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 102-105 Resources and Insights,

This post contains affiliate links. See the full disclosure.

Last week, we discussed how even in our trials we can find comfort and even rejoice as we pour out our hearts in gratitude. We also discussed how our trials can shape us into who God needs us to be. That we can find peace in the Savior and that there is safety in following the Lord's counsel.

This week, we learn that sometimes, blessings come after we have experiences trials or affliction. We learn that we are stewards over the blessings that our Heavenly Father gives us and Zion must be built on righteous principles.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

Day 1:

Do we have the faith to leave our “nets”? When Peter, Andrew, James & John left their nets to follow the Savior, they left literal fishing nets. They left their employment and the homes, the things that probably mattered most to them at the time.

Our “net” could be anything from spending too much time on social media, to worrying about keeping up with others, or even unanswered questions.

The key is FAITH! We gain more faith as we exercise faith in Christ. As we remember Him throughout our day, as we keep His commandments and as we partake of His atonement.

This pass Sunday, I shared a little message with the primary kids. I told them that I love my Savior and that He is my friend. I truly feel like that. I know that I can turn to Him, whenever I need Him and I know He loves me, I have felt that so strongly. As we strengthen our relationship with Him, then I faith grows!

I loved this quote from the lesson manual, “the real task is to follow the Savior, even when we don’t understand everything.” ♥️

Day 2:

Since section 102, discusses membership councils, that’s what we discussed tonight as a family! I loved Elder Ballard’s talk & I loved reading the General handbook. My biggest takeaway is, it’s all about love and repentance! God loves us and wants us to be able to stand clean before Him. I’m so grateful for our Savior, for His atoning sacrifice and for repentance!! Yes, we try to avoid sin, but when it happens, we can repent!! I encourage you to read the talk and to read what it says about Church membership councils in the General Handbook. Repentance and restoration of blessings is a big part of it!

Day 3:

I really love, reading and studying about Zion! I found an amazing article!! There were a few quotes I really loved from it.

One of those quotes, is: “A whole society can be righteous only as long as all the people who dwell in it want to be righteous. Obviously, those who do not want to be part of a Zion society will not join it—or will leave it, if they cannot abide its law (which is, essentially, to love the Lord and to serve him).” (Max Waters)

I love that last line!! , “to love the Lord and to serve him”. That’s doable isn’t it? It’s something that we can work on with ourselves, in our homes and even in our wards and stakes, as we love the Lord and serve Him together!

I also love that the building up of Zion, is done by living the laws of the Celestial Kingdom!! ♥️♥️♥️ Building up Zion, prepares us for exaltation with our Heavenly Father 💕 Something I thought of when studying, was how essential it is to be peacemakers! If we are to be of one heart and one mind, there really is no place for contention ♥️

Here’s that great article:

How is it possible for a whole society to be righteous? Can we in the Church become such a righteous society?

Day 4:

Have you read the quotes of the men from Zion’s camp, that is at the end of this week’s Come, Follow Me study? If you haven’t, I encourage you to!! I love their faithful testimonies and what they shared from their experience of being in Zion’s camp.

One thing I loved, was what they share that they learned from it and why it was essential for them to go through it, so they could be where they are at!

Can we relate this to our own lives? Are there trials or struggles we go through? Can we see looking back at some of the trials we’ve been through and seen how it has helped us grow or be where we are at today? Have we maybe even seen blessings come, because we have endured our trials with faith?

The greatest blessing that I have received from my trials, is a closer relationship with my Savior. I have had to truly rely upon him for strength and comfort. My trials have also helped me to be more patient and empathetic with others. Especially those who are going through, what I’ve gone through.

I’m grateful for a Heavenly Father and Savior who love us so perfectly. They want us to be happy and they want to pour blessings upon us. Sometimes in our trials we just need to see their goodness ♥️

Day 5:

A great way to look at the blessings, both temporal & spiritual, that we have, is that we are stewards over them. All we have comes from our Father, to bless His children and to build His kingdom.

I also love that they key is self-reliance. I love this quote, by Elder Uchtdorf, “In the Lord’s plan, there is something everyone can contribute. The lesson we learn generation after generation is that rich and poor are all under the same sacred obligation to help their neighbor. It will take all of us working together to successfully apply the principles of welfare and self-reliance.”

We need each other and we need to work together!! It’s all about progression, progression comes by teaching and learning how to be self reliant. ♥️

Day 6:

Peace comes from a Christ centered life. It comes as we strive to be peacemakers. It comes as we strive to avoid conflict.

As I have thought about how we might lift up an ensign of peace, the thought keeps coming to my mind that we teach and testify of Christ and we emulate Him. He after all is the Prince of Peace. I think that if we are trying to live a standard of peace, then we are quicker to see the good and common ground, rather than fault and division.

All I know is that conflict is exhausting! It takes up so much energy. I would much rather have peace in my life, in my home, and in my relationships with others.

Here’s a talk that talks about war and peace:
