Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 81–83 Resources and Insights

Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 81–83 Resources and Insights,

Last week, we learned about how our Heavenly Father will reveal the mysteries of Heaven to us as we turn to Him in prayer ask in faith. We also learned about our our Father leads us and the importance of the call to serve.

This week we are learning about how we can apply the scriptures into our own lives. That we can be faithful in doing all that the Lord asks of us to do. Including repenting, keeping the commandments and providing for the orphans and widows.

Throughout this blog post you will find images I create daily, which I am offering as free printables. As well as insights and links to resources to help with individual, family and even class room study. Remember to check back throughout the week as more printables and resources are added daily.

DAY 1:

To begin our family discussion this week, we read at the top of the manual, that as we study this week to, “make note of principles that can help you do good among your family, your friends, and others.”

I love this quote from President Hinckley!! He and his wife were always such fabulous examples of love and goodness! There truly is no end to the goodness that we can do for others!

Tonight, I was blown away when my ministering sisters showed up on our porch with a large container of fruit & some rice crispies! It was so thoughtful of them and I was so grateful ♥️

I am excited to study this week and ponder on the principles the scriptures teach us of doing good! I know that the Holy Ghost will be there to prompt us and direct us, we just need to not be to busy to listen & when the prompting comes, act upon it ♥️♥️

DAY 2:

I love that this week’s study focuses on how we can apply all scripture into our lives. That includes the revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants.

I find it very interesting and quite amazing that when I study the scriptures, they just seem to directly correlate to things in my life or things going on in the world! I’m so grateful that as I study I receive inspiration for my life and answers to questions. Not to mention the power that we receive in our lives as we study them.

I love the scriptures so much!! I’ve seen in my own life what a blessing it is to be able to really ponder and apply the scriptures into my life! It’s something I truly love to do!!

Ponder this week as you study, what scriptures stick out to you? How can you apply them into your life? What inspiration do you receive from them? ♥️♥️

Day 3:

Have you noticed that over and over again we seem to be studying something about service or loving others? It should be no surprise. Our Savior’s life was dedicated to love and service, this is His church and we’ve been commanded to love others.

Tonight, we discussed, succoring the week, strengthening the feeble & lifting others. All of these are examples of service.

I have learned a few things over the years…

1- The happiest people are those who look outside of themselves & serve others. (Though we do need to make sure we are taking care of ourselves as well, we can’t help others if we are running on an empty tank)

2- Service is an action word. When we see someone who is going through something hard, we need to act, to do something. I’ve tried really hard to not say, “let me know what I can do”, but rather do what I feel inspired to do. I think most of the time people just really need to know that we truly care. For example my ministering sisters dropping off a treat, meant the world to me!

3- We are all going through something. Not all of our trials are out on public display. This really is where the influence of the Holy Ghost comes in and being mindful of those around us. If we receive a prompting about someone, we should probably act upon it & act upon it promptly. I have so many regrets from when I haven’t acted. I still have a box of Twinkies sitting on my counter, that was meant for one of my kiddos friends that was going through a hardship. Service is not always convenient & often times those promptings don’t come at the best of times. But I know that as we do listen and promptly act, great things will happen! I firmly believe that we are placed in each other’s lives for a reason! ❤️

I found today’s quote from the “Adjusting to Service Missionary Life: Resource Booklet” under the chapter, “Developing Resilience under Stress”. I thought what a great place for it to be!! If we are having a hard time, serving another definitely will bring the blessings of happiness into our life! Here’s the link:

Day 4:

Repentance is change ♥️ I said yesterday, that service seems to be a reoccurring topic of study, as does repentance! Why?!? Because repentance is progression, progression is how we become more like our Heavenly Father & the reason we are here in mortality, is to become like our Father. Repentance is essential to our exhalation.

How grateful I am to our Savior! He provided the way for us to forsake our sins, repent and progress!! It’s essential that we have faith in Him and in the power of His atonement!!! I know that we can be forgiven because of our Savior! Turning to Him frees us from the bonds of sin and allows joy to enter our lives!

Here’s a great talk!!

Day 5:

As I thought about keeping the commandments, the phrase, “in this there is safety; in this there is peace” came to my mind. Those words come from the hymn, “Keep the Commandments”.

I’m my own life, I have seen those words to be truthful. I have never thought of the commandments as being restrictive. Rather quite the opposite. The commandments keep us from the bondage of sin, they help us to find peace.

I know that God gives us commandments because He loves us! He wants to give us those directions and guidelines that will help us return to Him safely. ♥️♥️ It is our choice to follow or not! Following the commandments, brings peace, safety and even happiness into our lives!! 💕
