Come, Follow Me 2021 Doctrine and Covenants 46-48 Resources and Insights,

Last week, we learned about preparing for the Lord's Second Coming. To not fear, but have faith and be prepared. We learned about striving to keep the Holy Ghost as our constant companion, keeping our covenants and partaking of our Savior's atonement. We also studied about the Savior being our advocate with our Father! How wonderful that is!!

This week, we get to learn more about the Holy Ghost and Spiritual Gifts!! I love the topic of spiritual gifts! It is one of my favorite things to study about.

Day 1:

I have a sure testimony of the Holy Ghost!! I have felt his influence and promptings to often and to surely in my life to ever be able to doubt it.

Some of the greatest times I’ve felt the promoting of the Holy Ghost have been when we’re ing in my callings! Especially, when given the opportunity to teach!

The Lord states in D&C 46:2, “to conduct all meetings as they are directed and guided by the Holy Spirit.” The Holy Ghost is our guide!

The more I learn about the Holy Ghost, the more I just love him and am so grateful for him and his great role in the Godhead! And the more I understand how much he is present in my daily life!

Day 2:

Are we aware of those who attend our sacrament and other meetings? We had a discussion tonight about being more welcoming in sacrament meeting and other meetings.

This whole pandemic has made some things a little difficult for the past little while. Week’s before it hit, our stake was organized and we were put in a new ward. Our ward was made up of pieces of five wards. So, there was a lot of people to get to know. For a while it was sacrament at home. Then we started to be able to meet with half of our ward. Which was so good to see at least some of our ward in person, then just the past two weeks we’ve been able to meet together as a ward. There are so many people I still don’t know and I’m looking forward to getting to know them.

What are some things that might prevent us from being more welcoming? Being in a hurry to get somewhere or to leave? Feeling self conscious? Being preoccupied with other things, like our kiddos 😉? What else?

How can we overcome those things & be welcoming? Elder Ulisses Soares gives us this advise, “As members, we should always be attentive and look for new faces when attending Church activities and meetings, regardless of the responsibilities, assignments, or concerns we may have. We can do simple things to help these new friends feel embraced and welcome in the Church, such as giving a warm greeting, smiling sincerely at them, sitting together to sing and worship, introducing them to other members, and so forth.”

So the next time you meet, whether it be sacrament meeting or other meetings or activities, might we be more aware and more welcoming ♥️

Day 3:

As I study the scriptures, certain phrases pop out at me & that’s how I know what I need to study and ponder.

Yesterday, this phrase stood out to me, “ye are commanded in all things to ask of God, who giveth liberally” (D&C 46:7) It’s been on my mind ever since.

Not only are we commanded, but praying to God always, brings with it great blessings!! As stated, He gives liberally.

I need my Heavenly Father in my life! When I pray to Him, I feel close to Him! I feel the spirit more in my life. I feel of God’s love.

Prayer to me, is the greatest blessing!! I know that my Heavenly Father is always there. I can pray to Him at any time of day, in any place! I can pray when I’m having a hard time, when I’m scared, frustrated or unhappy. I can pray when I need help, and I can pray when I’m happy and full of gratitude. I know my Father loves me and is listening!

Day 4:

I LOVE talking about spiritual gifts!! Until I received my patriarchal blessing, I’m not sure if I really had thought about them, and what my gifts might be. With my own kiddos we’ve had several discussions about spiritual gifts. Some don’t think they have any, but then we get talking. Often times, we have spiritual gifts and don’t realize that they are gifts!

For instance the spiritual gift of faith. That is one gift that I have and I’m sure many others have as well. It is the gift of believing without seeing or having to be convinced. Faith is something that comes easy to me. It is easy for me to believe spiritual things, such as the gospel.

How do we know or learn of our spiritual gifts?!? We can ask those who know us. We can ask our Heavenly Father. If we’ve received our patriarchal blessing we can read it and pay attention to what gifts it says we are blessed with. Read through section 46 of the doctrine & covenants, and see if you have any of the gifts it mentions.

Something I love is that we can seek after gifts. If there is a spiritual gift we desire to have, we can pray for it and strive for it.

I also love that we can and should use our spiritual gifts to help others ♥️♥️

Day 5:

“He that asketh in the Spirit asketh according to the will of God; wherefore it is done even as he asketh.” (D&C 46:30)

When we have faith, are living worthy of the influence of the spirit and desire righteousness, then I think our prayers will align with that. That those things we ask of our Father, in the name of the Savior will be inline with our Father’s will.

The Lord tells us to seek after the best gifts, those which we can use to further the building of His kingdom, which include strengthening our own testimony and coming more unto Christ.

This year I’ve been trying to study and develop Christlike attributes each month. I think that these attributes can be spiritual gifts as we pray to develop them in our lives. They are that of, faith, hope, charity, virtue, knowledge, patience, humility, diligence, obedience, teacher & gratitude.

Take a moment and think about a spiritual gift you would like to develop & ask in faith for help to develop it ♥️

Day 6:

Gratitude!!! Our wonderful prophet a few months back, reminded us of the importance of gratitude! I loved seeing my social media feed flooded with positive messages of gratitude.

In this scripture, the Lord tells us to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for those things we are blessed with. How often do we express appreciation to our Heavenly Father for our spiritual gifts? Recognizing that all we have, including those gifts, come from Him, to do His will and to build & strengthen His kingdom.

I know that for me when I focus on those things I am grateful for, I have more happiness. I forget about my worries or trials and remember how incredibly blessed I am!

Gratitude is such a wonderful attribute to develop! One that can bring more joy into our lives.
