Christ and Freedom Digital Watercolor Print

Christ and Freedom Digital Watercolor Print,

I remember standing up in my fifth grade classroom and singing, "I'm Proud to Be an American, where at least I know I'm free." (Words from Lee Greenwood, "God Bless the USA") That year was profound to me in gaining patriotism for the country I live in. I am grateful for our forefathers and for all those throughout the history of the United States who have fought and sacrificed so much for the freedoms that we enjoy today.

Today, is election day and I have been pondering on those freedoms that we enjoy, such as the right to vote and make our voice heard.  As I was pondering on freedom, I could not help but think about our Heavenly Father and Savior. The great war in Heaven was fought over freedom, the freedom of our agency to choose.

Our Father in Heaven's plan was a plan of free agency and our Savior backed our Father up with His plan. But Satan, desired to take that free agency away. Ultimately, Satan was cast out, where now he strives to thwart God's plan here on earth. We too fought for our freedom in the pre-existence and chose to follow God's plan.

This month, I am trying to focus more on those things that I am grateful for. With it being election day, my gratitude goes to freedom. I am grateful for free agency, for our Heavenly Father's plan and the role that our Savior, Jesus Christ has played in that plan. I am grateful for the freedoms I enjoy as a citizen of the United States of America, and for all those who have fought to secure that freedom.

I had the thought to do a drawing of Christ with my version of the American Flag in the background. The reason for doing this, is to help us to remember that our focus should always be on our Savior. Freedom from sin and death come through Him. I also, believe that God's hand was in the building of our nation and the rights and freedoms we enjoy within it. Gratitude should always go to our Heavenly Father, who all that we have should be credited to, as well as to His son.

I've decided to offer this digital painting for free. Click the free download button below. (note: it is a pdf, when I went to print mine, I had to adjust my printer to print to printable area.)
