October 2019 General Conference Review: Family or Class Activity for Elder Jeffery R. Holland's Talk,
Wasn't General Conference amazing!! As we earnestly listened to conference, we receive messages and even our own personal revelation. Now that conference is over what are we going to do??? We are going to apply it and live it right?!? We are going to continually strive to be more converted to our Savior. Which takes action on our part.
As a family, we are going to be taking some time studying the General Conference talks. The first one we will be studying, we are going to do for our family Come, Follow Me study time tonight. We have chosen our focus to be on Elder Jeffery R. Holland's General Conference talk, "The Message, the Meaning, and the Multitude"
We loved this General Conference talk, that it reminded us to, "Strive to See Christ at the Center of Our Lives"! So, it obviously was the perfect one to start our study and discussion on.
We have tried to keep our Come, Follow Me study simple. If it is simple, we find that it makes it easy for us to do it every night and it leaves room for more discussion. So, here is what the plan is for tonight:
Each family member will receive the "Strive to See Christ at the Center of Our Lives" Printable (see free download below). We will read Luke’s New Testament account of the blind man, that Elder Holland shared in his talk. We will discuss the commotion in the world, the blindness it can cause in our own lives, the good people in place in our lives that can steer us toward the Savior, the need for our persitance of reaching out to him and rising above the commotion, and the healing that he can bring into our lives. Causing us to see with eternal eyes. We will than discuss the importance of striving to make Christ the center of our own lives.
This is where each family member will be asked to take a few moments to write on their "Strive to See Christ at the Center of Our Lives" printable, things that they can do to keep their focus on the Savior. They can even color or use watercolors to paint it at this time too.
After everyone has taken some time to write some things down. Discuss it as a family. You may want to discuss how as a family you can make Christ the center of your home.
I love this talk from Elder Holland, it was a great reminder that our Savior is the reason, why we gather to listen to God's prophets, He is the reason why we attend church each Sunday and partake of the Sacrament and He is the reason why we gather as a family to prepare each member for the time when the will meet their Savior.
Hopefully, this lesson will be helpful to you! That you will be able to use it with your family or with your class. That we might all strive to center our lives around the Savior!
