Ideas for July Week 2 LDS Primary Sharing Time,
July 2018 Sharing Time Topic: Families Are Part of Heavenly Father’s Plan
July 2018 Song: “Families Can Be Together Forever” (CS, 188)
July Week 2 Topic: Family prayer, family scripture study, and family home evening can strengthen my family.
Preparation:
Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ! (All printables for this sharing time can be found and printed by clicking the "Free Printable Download" button. They are free and can be printed and used for personal and church purposes)
Sharing Time Instruction:
Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Family prayer, family scripture study, and family home evening can strengthen my family." Explain that today's Sharing Time is going to focus on this topic.
Invite five primary children to come up. Give each one of them one of the family member puppets (see free download below). Sing, "Happy Family". After singing the song, wrap the word strip, "Family Prayer" around the family puppet sticks. Invite the primary children to share ways family prayer can help to strengthen our families.
Wrap the word strip family scripture study around the family member puppet sticks. Invite the primary children to share ways that family scripture study can help to strengthen their family.
Wrap the word strip family home evening around the family member puppet sticks. Invite the primary children to share ways that family home evening can help to strengthen their family.
Explain that they are going to play a game of Charades. A primary child will act out activities we can do with our family to help strengthen it.
Invite a primary child to come up and pick one of the cards (see free download below) and act out what is says on the card. (for the your own experience cards, the child will act out something their own family does to strengthen it) The rest of the primary tries to guess what they are acting out. Whoever guesses it, will get to come up, choose a card and act something out. Continue until time runs out.
Close by sharing your testimony on strengthening families and encouraging the primary children to do those things that will strengthen their family.
