Ideas for April Week 4 LDS Primary Sharing Time,
April 2018 Sharing Time Topic: Jesus Christ Restored His Church in the Latter Days
April 2018 Scripture: “I have sent forth the fulness of my gospel by the hand of my servant Joseph” (D&C 35:17)
April 2018 Song: Song of your choice from the Children’s Songbook
April Week 4 Topic: Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and restored gospel truths.
Preparation:
Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ! (All printables for this sharing time can be found and printed by clicking the "Free Printable Download" button. They are free and can be printed and used for personal and church purposes)
Sharing Time Instruction:
Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and restored gospel truths."
Show the primary children a Book of Mormon, explain to them how blessed we are that Joseph Smith, translated the gold plates and restored to the earth gospel truths that had been lost during the apostasy.
Show this short video clip of the description the translation of the Book of Mormon:
After the movie, invite the primary children to participate in an activity about the gospel truths being restored.
Remind the primary children that a few week's ago they learned about how after Jesus and his apostles died, some gospel truths were lost. Heavenly Father restored these truths back to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. We are going to play a little activity about some of these gospel truths that have been restored to the earth.
Before primary use the printables. Cut out the letters for each of the words. Place the letters to the word in an envelope. Place the following pictures on the board (Baptism, Sacrament, Prophets, Priesthood, Temples). Divide the primary into five groups (if you have a small primary you could just unscramble to words together). Give each of the groups an envelope and invite them to unscramble to the word. When they are done unscrambling the word the can come up and get the picture that goes with it. Have them discuss as a group how their lives have been blessed by the gospel truth being restored.
When all words have been unscrambled, invite one group at a time to come up and tell the rest of the primary what their gospel truth is. Have them show their picture and share with the rest of the primary how their lives have been blessed by the restoration of that gospel truth.
When all of them have been discussed, share your testimony of the Book of Mormon and the restoration of gospel truths.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Candice!! That means so much!!! :)
DeleteI love your ideas and use them often. We have a lot of special needs kids in primary and often your ideas are exactly what I needed.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time in a Primary calling and I am so grateful for the wonderful ideas that you post! They have helped me so much when I have been at a loss of what to do for sharing time!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I'll use this. I'm also going to have the kids act the first vision, in place. Like he went walking (walk in place) to the grove and prayed (kneel on the ground), etc, instead of having someone come in. Our primary (both combined for sharing time) is mostly junior primary, so interactive is always a must. Thank you again!
