2018 Sharing Time Outline Theme: I am a Child of God

January 2018 Sharing Time Topic: I Am a Child of God, and He Has a Plan for Me

January Week 4 Topic: I have agency, and I am responsible for my choices.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important thing is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ! (All printables for this sharing time can be found and printed by clicking the "Free Printable Download" button. They are free and can be printed and used for personal and church purposes)

Sharing Time Instruction:

Before Sharing Time, place the following letters under some of the primary children's chairs, "AGENCY". Invite the primary children to look under the chairs. Invite each of the primary children to come up and have the rest of the primary try to put them into order.

Invite the primary children to say what the word says, "Agency". Ask the primary children to tell you what agency is. Explain that "Agency is the ability and privilege God gives us to choose and to act for ourselves." (lds.org Agency and Accountability)

Further explain that "Agency is essential in the plan of salvation. Without agency, we would not be able to learn or progress or follow the Savior." (lds.org Agency and Accountability)

Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite the children to repeat, "I have agency, and I am responsible for my choices."

Explain that Heavenly Father has given us the amazing gift of Agency, but with agency also comes responsibility for what we choose.

Let's play a little choice and consequence game.

On the board have a 2 columns. The first column is choices, the cards will be face down. Then in the second column there will be consequence, also with cards face down.

Invite a primary child to come up and choose a card in the choices column. Read the situation to the primary children. Then invite the primary children to choose if it is a good choice or a wrong choice. Then turn over the card in the corresponding consequence column and read it to the children. Explain that we have the agency to choose, but we don't get to choose our consequence. We have to be accountable, or responsible for our choices.

Continue until all choices have been discussed or until time runs out.

Share your testimony with the primary children about agency being responsible for our choices.
