My Thoughts:
“To consecrate is to set apart or dedicate something as sacred, devoted to holy purposes,” said Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. (lds.or)
As I thought about this quote and the topic of Living a Consecrate Life, the question came, Are we dedicating our life to our Father and devoting to live it for holy purposes?
I think this comes one choice as a time, as we consciously choose to do our Father's will.
This really can be hard at times, living in this fallen world. It's easy to loose site of the eternal perspective of things.
How do we stay focused on living a consecrated life? Here's some ideas...
Begin each day with prayer and a scripture!
The best way to know our Father's will is to start the day in prayer to Him. Praying that we might know the things He desires of us to do. The scriptures can bring protection and guidance into our day. If you don't have time for a scripture study session. At least read one verse and apply that verse into your life.
Choose the Right
Throughout the day when you are faced with choices, there really are so many in a day! Think about what things are the best to do and more fulling a line with God's will.
Recognize God's Hand
It's easy to get caught up in what we don't have or our inadequacies, trials and just the plain negativity of life! But, when we focus on seeing the love that our Heavenly Father has for us and His tender mercies He gives us daily, then we will invite the spirit into our lives. We will feel closer to our Heavenly Father and better understand that perfect love He has for us.
Make and Keep Covenants
Making covenants and keeping those covenants we make with Heavenly Father can help us live a consecrated life. Each week we have to opportunity to remember and renew our baptismal covenants as we partake of the sacrament. This helps us to re-evaluate our life and resolve to do better. As we attend the temple it helps us to keep our sites on the eternal perspective of things.
We are so extremely blessed to have the gospel in our lives! Living a consecrated life brings us even greater blessings!
