2017 LDS Sharing Time Ideas for May Week 1: As I repent, I can be forgiven.

Ideas for May Week 1 LDS Primary Sharing Time,

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

May 2017 Scripture: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38).

May 2017 Song: “When I Am Baptized” (CS, 103)

May Week 1 Topic: As I repent, I can be forgiven.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. The most important this is to love those you teach and to teach them by the Spirit!! Focus on building their testimonies and helping them come unto Christ!

Sharing Time Instruction:

Begin sharing time by inviting the primary children to tell you some sins, or wrong choices they might make. Write these on the chalk board. Show the primary children the eraser. Say the following, "What if I told you that all of these sins and wrong choices could be erased?  But to be erased there was a price that had to be paid for all of the sins."

Show the primary children a picture of the Savior. Explain that the price had to be paid by someone who was without sin them self. Our perfect Savior who was with out sin and who was the begotten son of God, was the only one who could pay this price.

Ask the primary children what the Savior needed to do to pay the price?  He needed to suffer for each of the sins, he had to feel the remorse and pain that went with each one of them.

He then had to die for us, to fully pay the price for this fallen mortal world.

When the debt was paid it provided us with a way to be forgiven and have our sins erased.

Before primary place the letters for REPENT, under the children's chairs. (See free download button below) Invite the primary children to look under their chairs to see if they have one of the letters. Invite the primary children to come up and put the letters in order.

Explain that repentance is the thing we can do to be forgiven.

Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "As I repent, I can be Forgiven."

How do we repent??

Show the primary children the sad face poster, explain that we feel bad for what we have done (you could have primary child come up and hold the picture) Explain that usually when we make a wrong choice it doesn't make us feel good or happy. When we are repentant we understand that what we did was wrong and we feel sorry for it. You could invite the primary children to make a sad look with their face.

Show a picture of a child praying (invite another child to come up and hold this picture) Explain that when we feel bad about the wrong choice we have made then we need to pray to Heavenly Father.

We can ask our Heavenly Father for forgiveness and to help us to make things right. The Savior is there to help us during repentance. He can help us try our best to become better and to not do that wrong thing again.

Invite a child to hold the "Sorry Poster". Part of repenting is making things right, or saying sorry. For instance, if you had taken a cookie from the cookie jar when your mom had said no and the cookie jar broke, how could you make things right??? (You could tell your mom what you had done, you could tell her you are sorry, help her clean up the mess, and help replace the cookie jar)

Because the Savior has atoned for our sins and when we do our part by repenting then mercy is given to us and we are forgiven.

Invite some primary children to come up and say what they could do to repent and make things right with one of the sins written on the board. Then have them erase the sin. Continue with each of the sins.

When the board has been erased then explain that just like the board is now all nice and clean, with no trace of the sin. So will it be with us. We will be forgiven and our sins remembered no more.

Share your testimony of repentance and forgiveness with the primary children.
