2017 LDS Sharing Time Ideas for February Week 1: Noah was blessed for choosing the right.

Ideas for February Week 1 LDS Primary Sharing Time, Noah was blessed for choosing the right.

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

February 2017 Sharing Time Topic: When We Choose the Right, We Are Blessed

February 2017 Scripture: “If ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you” (Mosiah 2:22).

February 2017 Song:  “Choose the Right” (Hymns, no. 239)

February Week 1 Topic: Noah was blessed for choosing the right.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.

Sharing Time Instruction:

Begin primary by playing a little hint game with the primary children about Noah. Explain that you are going to give the primary children a hint that describes someone, they can guess who it is, or they can ask for another hint. See how many hints it takes until they guess correctly.

Here are the hints:

1- This person lived a long time ago.
2- He was one of God's prophets.
3- God commanded him to do something that people made fun of him for and wouldn't believe or listen to him.
4- God Commanded him to tell the people to repent, the people didn't listen.
5- God commanded him to build an ark
6- Go commanded him to gather male and female of each animal onto the ark.
7- God told Noah that a great flood would cover the earth and all things not on the ark would be destroyed.
8- He was a righteous man who obeyed God and was blessed.

* If they guess it before all the clues are given, you can either tell them the rest of the clues or have them tell you what else they know about Noah.

Place a picture of Noah on the Board: Read Moses 8:20

"And it came to pass that Noah called upon the children of men that they should repent; but they hearkened not unto his word"

Explain that sometimes it is hard to choose the right, but we will be blessed for it. Discuss how it must have been hard for Noah to obey Heavenly Father and call the people to repentance and have them not listen.

Show the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Noah was blessed for choosing the right."

(There are printables both colored and black and white, also multi sizes. See Free Download below)

On the board draw a picture of an ark or use this one.

Before primary place the animal printables under some of the primary children's chairs. Invite the primary children to look under their chair and see if they have an animal.

Have the children look at their animals if it has a Q on it have them raise their hand. Invite one of the children with a Q on their animal to come up. Read the question that is on the back of the card (See download for questions and answers).

Have the child show the rest of the primary children what animal it is. (If you wanted you could have them make the animal sound or act like the animal) Ask the primary children if anyone has the pair to that animal. Invite them to come up and read the answer to the question that is on the back of that card. Invite both primary children to place their animals on to the ark.

Continue with having another child with a Q card to come up.  Continue until all animal cards have be discussed.

Explain to the primary children that Noah was blessed for obeying Heavenly Father and choosing the right. Explain that we can follow Noah's example and choose the right even when it is hard to do so.

Invite the primary children to share ways that they can choose the right in difficult situations. (If you have time, before you ask this question, you can give the primary children their own arch color page and invite them to write or a draw a picture of something they can do to choose the right)

Close by sharing your testimony of the example of the Prophet Noah in choosing the right.
