2017 LDS Sharing Time Ideas for January Week 3: In the premortal life, I chose to follow God’s plan.

Ideas for January Week 3 LDS Primary Sharing Time, In the premortal life, I chose to follow God’s plan.

2017 Sharing Time Outline Theme: Choose the Right

January 2017 Sharing Time Topic: Agency Is the Gift to Choose for Ourselves

January 2017 Scripture: “Wherefore, men are free … to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men” (2 Nephi 2:27).

January 2017 Song:  “As a Child of God”

January Week 3 Topic:  In the premortal life, I chose to follow God’s plan.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.

Sharing Time Instruction:

Place the word strip Premortal life on the board. Ask the primary children what premortal life is? Explain that premortal life was where we were before we came to earth.

In the premortal life we lived with our Heavenly Father and we were able to make choices. Our Heavenly Father presented a plan to us. We choose to follow our Heavenly Father's Plan. Show the primary children the Week's theme poster.

Invite the primary children to sing, "I Will Follow God's Plan ". While they are singing have them listen to the words and pick out what things they chose as a part of God's plan.

Chose:
1- Chose to come to Earth
2- Chose to seek for God's light to direct us.

Add these word strips to the board:

Before Primary place pictures on the walls around the room. Explain to the primary children that around the room are pictures of things that are a part of our Heavenly Father's Plan. We chose to follow and do these things.

Invite a primary child to go and pick one of the pictures off of the wall and bring it to the front of the room. Discuss with the primary children what the thing is and why it is important to our Heavenly Father's plan.

Pictures (See download below):

1- Body: Part of God's plan was that we would come to earth to gain bodies so we could become like our Father.

2- Make Choices: as part of mortal life we would need to make choices for ourselves.

3- Baptism: As part of Heavenly Father's plan we would need to make covenants with Heavenly Father through baptism.

4- Confirmation: We would become able to receive the Holy Ghost (the third member of the Godhead) as our constant companion. To help us make the right choices, that will lead us back to our Heavenly Father.

5- Savior: Because of the fall of Adam and Eve we would need a Savior. It is only through his atonement that we can return to our Heavenly Father.

6- Temple Covenants: in God's holy temples we are able to make further  essential covenants with our Heavenly Father.

7-  Death: Because we are mortal we will all experience death. Our body will stay on this earth will our spirit will go to the spirit world in either spirit paradise or spirit prison until the resurrection.

8- Resurrection: Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ we will be resurrected too, our body and our spirit will reunite. Never to be separated ever again.

9- Judgement: We will come before the Lord and be judged. Our deeds, faithfulness and testimony will help in determining which degree of glory will be dwell in.

10-  Placement in Degrees of Glory: The Celestial with our Heavenly Father and Savior, or the Terrestrial or Telestial.

Close by sharing your testimony on about following Heavenly Father's plan.

    1. Hey Val! Sorry your having problems. If you are having problems printing it from google docs. you could download it and try printing it that way. If you are still having problems, let me know and I can email it to you. It may be something with the printer too. You could adjust the margins when you go to print too. I just checked on my end & everything looks okay.

  2. Thank you so much!! Just saw one tiny typo. ;) It says premarital instead of premortal. >> "Place the word strip Premortal life on the board. Ask the primary children what premortal life is? Explain that premarital life was where we were before we came to earth."

  7. Thank you SO much! This is exactly what I needed! One more correction. Under picture #8 for Resurrection it should say, "Through the death and resurrection of JESUS CHRIST," not "Heavenly Father." Thanks again!

    1. And just one doctrinal clarification for #10... Only those who live with Heavenly Father will have Eternal Life. Everyone will be resurrected and live forever, or have immortal life. But Eternal Life refers to living with Heavenly Father. Thanks!
