January Week 2 Topic: Agency Is the Gift to Choose for Ourselves
Preparation:
Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.
Sharing Time Instruction:
This weeks topic is the same as week 1, this week's focus will be on the primary children making their own choices.
Follow-up with last week. Explain that last week they learned about what agency is, that it is a gift from Heavenly Father, for them to be able to choose for themselves.
With this gift we need to use it wisely. If we don't then we will have the bad consequences that follow.
Choosing the right allows the Spirit to be with us. It helps us grow closer to our Heavenly Father. It brings freedom, light and happiness into our lives.
Give each of the primary children a paper (see download below). Invite them to write and draw a picture of a good choice they have made. Explain that you are going to invite some of the primary children to come up and share their picture and explain the good choice they made and the good consequence that followed their good choice.
Use the time to, invite the primary children to share their choice pictures.
Invite the primary children to sing the song "Choose the Right".
Close by sharing your testimony of making good choices.

Thanks for the suggestions! I also asked two children at a time to hold the choice/consequence stick and then read a brief story from the scriptures. Then I asked the child holding the "choice" end to tell us what the choice was in the story, and the child holding the "consequence" end to tell us the consequence.
ReplyDeleteI love that idea!! Thanks so much for sharing!! :)
