September 2016 Sharing Time Topic: The Gospel Will Be Preached in All the World

September 2016 Scripture: “This gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” (D&C 133:37).

September 2016 Song: Your Choice (Review for Program)

September Week 4 Topic: I can be a missionary now.

Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.

Sharing Time Instruction:

Jesus Christ in a white robe, walking along the banks of the sea and calling out to a group of fishermen, who are pulling their nets into their boat.
Image can be downloaded from lds.org Calling of the Fishermen by Harry Anderson (62496); GAK 209; GAB 37
Show the primary children the picture of Jesus and his Apostles: Calling of the Fishermen or show this Mormon Message video, "Fisher's of Men". Ask the primary children what it means to be a fisher of men?  Read the following scripture, Matthew 4:18-22. Discuss with the primary children that being fisher's of men, means they are missionaries, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "I can be a missionary now".

Explain to the primary children that they can be a fisher of men, or a missionary right now!! Show the primary children the paper fish, place them on the floor or in a little make shift pond. Explain that on the fish are ways they can be a missionary now.  Invite a primary child to come up and try to catch on of the fish with the fishing poll. (The fishing poll can be made by either a long stick or a wooden dowel. Tightly secure some string, rope or jute onto the end of the poll. On the other end of the string secure a magnet. Use fish printables in the download above. Print out the fish onto card stock and then print the ways to be a missionary on the other side, cut out and on the paper fish place a paper clip)

When the primary child catches the fish, read what it says on the fish and discuss it as a primary. Ask them questions, give them scenarios about the topic. Continue until each fish has been caught.

To close share you testimony on how we can be missionaries right now, no matter what age we are.

What's on the FISH??? How to be a missionary now.... (see printable above)
