2016 Sharing Time Outline Theme: "I Know the Scriptures Are True"
August 2016 Sharing Time Topic: My Body Is a Temple of God
August 2016 Scripture: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? … The temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” (1 Corinthians 3:16–17).
August 2016 Song: “The Lord Gave Me a Temple” (CS, 153)
August Week 1 Topic: My body is a temple.
Preparation:
Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.
Sharing Time Instruction:
Sapporo Japan Temple can be downloaded at LDS.org |
Show the primary children the month's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "My Body is a Temple". Place the theme poster in a plastic sleeve that is pasted on the front of a gift sack or paper bag. Ask the primary children what does it mean, that their body is a temple? Read the following scripture to the primary children, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? … For the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are (1 Cor. 3:16–17)."
Explain to the primary children that their spirit as well as the Holy Ghost dwells within them. Making their body like the temple a very holy place. Point to the things they said about why the temple is important. Ask them how that also relates to the importance of their bodies.
Show the primary children the sack explain that inside of the sack are ways they can treat their bodies special and holy like the temple it is. Invite a primary child to come up and pick a paper out of the sack. Invite them to either act out what the paper says and have the rest of the primary guess. Or they can draw a picture on the board and have the rest of the primary guess. When the object is guessed, discuss how it can help them to treat their body like a temple.
Continue with each paper, until all gone, or time runs short.
Paper's inside sack to be acted out or drawn: (see printable download above)
- Dress Modestly (My gospel standard)
-Read and watch things that are pleasing to Heavenly Father (My gospel standard)
- I will not partake of things that are harmful to me (My gospel standard)
- Eat nutritious foods
- Get enough sleep
- Exercise
-Drink enough water
- Avoid marking up bodies with tattoos and piercings
- Keep body clean
Invite the primary children to focus during the week on how they can treat their bodies as temples.
Share your testimony of the importance of our bodies and the importance of treating them with respect.
