2016 Sharing Time Outline Theme: "I Know the Scriptures Are True"
April 2016 Sharing Time Topic: Jesus Christ Is My Savior and Redeemer
April 2016 Scripture: “We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel” (Articles of Faith 1:3).
April 2016 Song: Your Choice
April Week 4 Topic: Jesus Christ was resurrected, and I will be too.
April Week 4 Topic: Jesus Christ was resurrected, and I will be too.
Preparation:
Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.
Sharing Time Instruction:
Begin Sharing Time by playing the video, "His Sacred Name- An Easter Declaration" Before hand invite the primary children to think of some of the words that are used during the video. For the Junior Primary, during the video read the words out loud to them, since some can not read for themselves.
After the video show the primary children the pictures of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. Invite the primary children to share with you some of the words that were said during the video. Here is a list, Betrayed, Denied, Accused, Rejected, Bound, Scourged, Mocked, Reviled, Spit on, Crucified, Forsaken, He did His Father's will, Atoned, Healed, Held his peace, Forgave, Gave his life, He is Risen. Discuss some of these with the primary children and the importance they are. For example you could discuss how important it was the Christ was Forsaken by the Father, meaning Heavenly Father left his presences, he was completely alone for a moment, so he could feel what that felt like, so he could comfort and truly be a Savior for all mankind.
Show the primary children the Week's Theme Poster and invite them to repeat, "Jesus Christ was resurrected, and I will be too." Explain to the primary children that the Resurrection brought significant importance to both Christ's birth and his death. The Resurrection solidified the fact that Christ is the literal Son of God. Invite the primary children to share why the resurrection is important to them. Discuss that because the Savior overcame death and was resurrected, it made it so all of us will be resurrected also. Invite the primary children to share what the resurrection is, what does it mean to be resurrected? If you would like you could do the glove demonstration. Where you show the primary children a white glove, the glove symbolizes our body, our hand symbolized our spirit. When we are born our body and spirit unite. Place the hand inside of the glove. When our time on earth is complete, we die and our body and our spirit separate (take hand out of glove) Our body stays on earth, while our spirit goes to Spirit Paradise or Spirit Prison. When the Savior comes again all of Heavenly Father's children will be resurrected, meaning our body and spirit will be reunited again into perfect form. Place the hand back into the glove. They will never be separated again.
Ask the primary children how they know that the Savior was resurrected? Explain that we know because of those who have witnessed Christ's Resurrection. Just like a detective at a crime seen looks for witnesses to find out what happened. We can look to witnesses to understand and gain a witness for ourselves. On the board place the following pictures, on top of the pictures place a piece of paper that says, Witness 1, Witness 2 and so on. Invite a primary child to come up and pick a witness picture. Ask them if they know who the witness is? If they do not you can tell them the name of the witness. Invite them to read the scripture story of the witness. Use the name cards as either name tags for the kids reading the scriptures or place under the pictures as they are discussed. Here are the pictures with scriptures:
Paper that says Holy Ghost: For this one explain that we each can receive a witness by the Holy Ghost, that we may know for ourselves that the Savior is Resurrected and we will be too.
Discuss each scripture as a primary and how each is a witness of Christ's Resurrection. Emphasize that we can each gain our own witness as we study the scriptures, listen to the testimony of others and pray for that witness, the Holy Ghost will tell us the truth of all things!
If time allows close by singing the song, "Did Jesus Really Live Again?"
