2016 Sharing Time Outline Theme: "I Know the Scriptures Are True"
February 2016 Sharing Time Topic: The Scriptures Teach of Heavenly Father’s Plan
February 2016 Scripture: “For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:39).
February Week 2 Topic: Jesus Christ created the earth for me.
Preparation:
Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.
Sharing Time Instruction:
Bring a globe or a map of the world. Show this to the primary children. Ask the children what it is? Explain that they have a Father in Heaven that loves them so much, that He knew how important it was for them to gain a mortal body and experience mortality. So under His direction, Jesus Christ created the earth. Show the primary children the month theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Jesus Christ Created the Earth for Me". Because of his love for us he wanted to make the earth beautiful for us. Everything on the earth was created for our benefit.
On the board draw six sections. At the top of the first section write, "DAY 1", then next section write, "DAY 2" and so on all the way to DAY 6. Invite an older primary child or a teacher to read the following scripture: 1 Nephi 17:36. Explain to the primary children that you are going to divide them into 6 groups. Each group will get a scripture (scriptures are on the the paper) to help them. They are to read the scripture, talk about what was created on that day and then draw a picture of it. When everyone is done drawing their pictures, invite the group that had Day 1, to come up, read their scripture, show the picture and share with the rest of the primary what was created on that day. Continue with each group going in order all the way to day 6. Explain that on the 7th day they rested from their labors, just as we are to rest on the Sabbath day.
Close by inviting the primary children to share with you some of the things that they enjoy that Jesus has created for them. You could even show pictures of some things, like flowers, trees, mountains, animals, ocean, etc. Write their answers on the board.
Share your testimony of the creation.
Examples:
Day 1: Jesus formed the earth and created light. He separated the light and darkness. (Moses 2:2-5)
Day 2: Jesus separated the waters. We have waters on earth in lakes and oceans and rivers. We also have waters in the atmosphere, from clouds we receive rain and snow. (Moses 2:6-8)
Day 3: Jesus separated the waters and the dry land. Jesus created grasses, herbs and trees. (Moses 2:9-13)
Day 4: Jesus created lights to divide day and night and for signs and season. (Moses 2:14-19)
Day 5: Jesus created the fish and the birds. (Moses 2:20-23)
Day 6: Jesus created the beasts and cattle and everything that creepeth upon the earth. He also, created Adam and Eve in the likeness and image of God and Jesus. (Moses 2:24-31)
