Preparation:

Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.

Sharing Time Instruction:

Before Primary, set up the following display on a small table in the front of the room. Place a table cloth or tree skirt over the table. Then have a small Christmas tree sitting on the table. You could make the tree by using the Cereal Box Christmas Tree Tutorial.  Then next to the tree, place some wrapped boxes or gift bags of different sizes. An idea so the presents can be used for both Jr and Sr primary, is to wrap the lid and the bottom of the boxes separately, so they are not actually tearing the wrapping paper, but just opening the box. Inside of the box and/or gift bags, place the following objects:

Begin sharing time by playing the following video“God's Christmas Gift” (December 2013 Friend) (Click the link, then find the title "God's Christmas Gift" click the video icon).  Invite the primary children to look at the display on the table. Explain to them that Heavenly Father loves us so much that he has given us some gifts.  Invite a primary child to come up and choose a gift. Invite them to open the gift and see what is inside. Show the rest of the primary and discuss what the gift is and how it has blessed the children's lives. Invite the primary children to share experiences or testimony of how they have been blessed personally by that gift.

Invite another primary child up and invite them to choose another gift and open it. Discuss the same way as above. Continue until all of the presents have been opened and discussed.

Show the children the week's theme poster and invite them to repeat, "Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world". Ask the primary children what the word "Savior" means. Explain that it is someone who saves someone from something. Ask the children, what Jesus saves us or the world from? (answers: He saves us from both Spiritual death and Physical death) What a great gift to the world, Jesus Christ is.

Give each of the primary children, a card (see printable). Play the above video, or music and invite them to write or draw a picture of a gift they can give to the Savior that week. Invite them to take the card home and display it somewhere they will see it frequently, so they can remember to give that gift.

Conclude by sharing your witness of the Savior.

    1. How do you show them in your room Alia? I've done two ways, I've showed them on the Ipad and I've used the laptop and connected it to the TV.

    2. I was able to download the video to a jump drive and then plug that into the flat screen tv. I went Wednesday to make sure it would work on the TV at the building and it did. So all I need on Sunday is the jump drive and I can play the video.

  6. This is such a simple concept, but I can already tell that it would bring the Spirit. I love Sharing Times where testimony is a key ingredient. :)

    1. Me too Mandy! One of the best sharing times I did was on the Holy Ghost. I had opened it up to the children to share their experiences with the Holy Ghost. The spirit was so strong and so many children shared. I could not stop them & we ended up going over, but it was so great. :)

  8. Hi, Thank you so much for the effort you have taken to post this. I was struggling to figure out how to present the idea in the booklet in a way that would keep the children engaged. The links to the visuals and the song were an added bonus. Really appreciate it!
