Preparation:
Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine.
Sharing Time Instruction:
Before sharing time invite a couple of primary children to come up and stand in the front of the room being an "example" of reverence. This could be done as children are entering the room for primary at the beginning of primary.
Write the word "EXAMPLE" on the board. Invite the children to share with you what the word "example" means. Explain that when someone is an example, they are showing us what to do, so we can imitate or follow their actions. Ask the primary children if they saw the two children standing at the front of the room. Ask them what those two children were doing? Were they setting an example for the rest of the primary children to follow?
Explain that there is someone who was sent to this earth to be the perfect example for us to follow. Ask the children if they know who that person is?? (Jesus Christ) Show the children the week's theme poster and invite the children to repeat the phrase, "Jesus Christ’s example teaches me how to live."
Explain that we are going to play a little matching game. In the matching game will be examples of Jesus teaching us how we should live our lives. Before sharing time place the pictures face down on the board. To begin the game, invite a primary child to come up and pick two of the cards and turn them around so they are facing up. If the match then discuss with the primary children what example Jesus is setting in those pictures to teach us how to live. If it is not a match then turn the pictures back over and invite another child to come up and pick two more pictures. Continue until all of the pictures have been matched and discussed.
Share your testimony on the importance and the gratitude you have for Jesus' example.
