For tonight's Family Home Evening the topic in which I have chosen is:
Keeping Baptismal Covenants
Free Printable:
Preparation: I hope and pray that you can use these ideas as a guideline and adjust them to the needs of your own specific family. Our prophet President Monson says, "We cannot afford to neglect this heaven-inspired program. It can bring spiritual growth to each member of the family, helping him or her to withstand the temptations which are everywhere. The lessons learned in the home are those that last the longest." On Lds.org there are resources available in helping to make your Family Home Evenings successful, here is a link to that site on Family Home Evenings.
Invite a member of the family member say the prayer
Discuss any family business
Follow-up with last weeks FHE.
Scripture: Read: Luke 22:19-20
Family Home Evening Instruction:
Review by asking your family the fill in the blank questions.
Questions:
1- When we are __________________ we make a covenant with Heavenly Father. (Answer: Baptized)
2- We promise to take upon us the ______________ of His Son and to always ______________ Him. (Answer: name, remember)
3- We also promise to keep His _________________. (Answer: commandments)
4- Heavenly Father promises us that we can always have his ___________ to be with us. (Answer: Spirit)
5- He also promises us ____________ in His church, ______________ of our sins, and salvation in His _________________. (Answers: membership, Forgiveness, kingdom)
Explain that now we are going to discuss things we can do that can help us keep the covenants we make at our baptism. Place the cards from the below printable onto the ground, face down. Invite each family member one at a time to toss a bean bag or soft ball onto one of the cards. Then, read that card and discuss how it can help us keep our covenant.
Bear testimony that as we keep our baptismal covenants we will be blessed and that Heavenly Father will be bound to keep his promises.
Close with a Family Prayer.
