One of my friends in my ward, Lashele, had the amazing idea of creating the SYT (Share Your Testimony) challenge. She videoed herself, bearing her testimony and submitted the challenge to some of her friends, to also share their testimony either by video or by writing it on Facebook. What a wonderful way to, "...sweep the earth as with a flood.", as Elder Bednar said in his address, "To Sweep the Earth as with a Flood" during BYU education week, August 2014.
I listened to Elder Bednar's address and encourage everyone to do so! Here is the link, "To Sweep the Earth as with a Flood". I was deeply touched by the spirit as he spoke of the prophesies from previous prophets regarding technology. I know that our Heavenly Father is wise and all knowing. That technology is so prevalent right now, and the purpose of this is to send the gospel, our testimonies to all of the world.
Months ago, I was invited to a leadership training in our area. The topic discussed was hastening the work through technology. The spirit was so strong in this meeting, I felt the validation of what was being said to us was indeed what our Heavenly Father would have us learn. One of the speakers asked each of us to get out our cell phones, we were to think of someone who has had an influence in our life, someone we felt prompted by the spirit at that moment to share our love and message with. We were to text that person at that very moment. Then he had us put down our phones and told us that something remarkable would happen. That within just a few moments, many of us would receive a message back. This was so profound to me. As I did this exercise I felt the spirit so strongly. I know everyone in the room felt the spirit. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to do missionary work and to strengthen others at the tip of our fingertips! It is simple it can be done anytime, anywhere. I have enjoyed hearing testimonies of my friends on social media. It is an amazing way to reach our friends that live miles and miles away.
The time is now! Now is the time to share our testimonies on gospel principles and doctrine. Now is the time to share this amazing gift that we have been given, with the world. I encourage everyone reading this to take a minute to share their testimony with someone, either by text, in social media, recorded or written, whatever the form seek for ways to share this precious gift of the gospel. You never know just who your testimony will touch. If sharing on social media use the hash-tag: #SYTchallenge
Here is my testimony:
I am so grateful for my membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is something I hold very dear to me. I am the person I am, because of my beliefs. I know that I am a daughter of God. I know that he loves me, he knows me, he knows the intentions of my heart, he knows my strengths and he knows my struggles. I know that his love for me is unconditional. I have felt of his love, I have seen his love in action in my life. I have a strong testimony of prayer. I am so grateful that I can pray to my Heavenly Father everyday at anytime and anywhere. I know that he hears my prayers and that he answers my prayers. They might not be always answered on my time frame or in the way I think they should, but they are always answered and they are answered in the way that my Heavenly Father knows is best for me. I have a testimony of the atonement of Christ. I know that my elder brother, Jesus Christ came to this earth to be the perfect example for us. I know he came here to do something that we could not do for ourselves. He took upon him all of the sin, sorrows and pains of this world. He took upon him my sins, my sorrows and my pains. He did this because he loves us. I am so grateful for the atonement and for the ability that I have each day to repent and seek forgiveness. I am grateful that because of the atonement the Savior knows my pains and my sorrows. He is there for me to comfort me and help me as a struggle. I know that because of the Saviors death and resurrection I will be resurrected someday also. I have a testimony of the scriptures. I am grateful for the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have a testimony that he did indeed see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, that the keys of the priesthood were restored to the earth. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church and that the Savior sits at the head of the church. I am so grateful that I can go to the scriptures for instruction and guidance. It is so amazing to have a prayer in my heart of something that I need the Father's help with, I can open the scriptures and read a verse and it is exactly what I need. Over and over again this happens, there is no doubt in my mind that the Book of Mormon is the word of God! I know that President Monson is the current prophet of the church. I know that he receives revelation from our Heavenly Father, for the church at this time. I know that we can each receive personal revelation for our own lives. I have a testimony of the temple. That it is the house of the Lord. There is an amazing feeling as you enter a LDS temple. It is indescribable. I have a testimony that families are sealed and bound together forever in the temple. I am grateful for my temple marriage and the knowledge that I have that my family will be together forever. I am grateful for the opportunity that we have to serve in the temple to participate in doing ordinance work for those who have passed on and can not do it for themselves. I have a testimony of love and service. I know that we are all Heavenly Father's children, that we are brothers and sisters. I know that Heavenly Father has a strong desire for all of his children to be successful and to return to live with him. I know that he wants each of us to love each other, to treat each other with kindness, to look for ways to use our talents to help each other out. I have felt the Holy Ghost so strongly testify of the truthfulness of this gospel to me, what I have felt is an overwhelming confirmation. I know that as I strive to draw closer to my Heavenly Father and Savior that I will continue to feel the Holy Ghost. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
