Sharing Time Instruction:
Throughout this month encourage the primary children to bring their scriptures to primary.
Begin sharing time by writing the word "STRENGTH" on the board. Ask the children what the word strength means? Have the children flex their arm muscles. Ask the children the questions, "What does it mean if someone is physically strong?" "What do they need to do to become physically strong?" Explain that for someone to gain physical strength they need to work their muscles, so their muscles can get stronger, they need to eat healthy, drink enough water and get enough sleep.
Explain to the children that our spirits can also become stronger. Have the children sing, "Scripture Power". Have them raise their scriptures in the air as they sing the words, "Scripture Power". When they are done singing the song ask the children, "What can help our spirits grow stronger?" Explain that as we read the scriptures our spirits will get stronger. Explain that as we read the scriptures each day alone and together as a family, it will give our spirits the strength and power to stay on the right path.
Explain that when Jesus was on the earth he also used the scriptures. When Jesus was tempted he relied on the scriptures to give him spiritual strength.
Play a memory game with the children. Have the pictures placed randomly on the board. Invite a child to come up and pick two pictures. If they match then read the scripture that goes with that particular picture. Then ask the children how Jesus received spiritual strength? Have the children hold up their scriptures. "Explain that “it is written” means that Jesus was quoting scripture." (2014 Sharing time Outline pg 17) If they do not match then you will turn them back over and invite another primary child to come up to try to find the match. Continue until all pictures have been matched and the scriptures have been read.
Put the poster "Scripture study gives me and my family spiritual strength." on the board and invite the children to repeat those words with you.
For Senior Primary place the following scripture reference on the board, "1 Nephi 3:7". Explain that the first one to find the scripture will get to read the scripture. When someone finds the scripture invite them to read it. Ask the children how that scripture can give them and their families spiritual strength.
For Junior Primary, read the following scripture, "1 Nephi 3:7", have the primary children hold their scriptures in the air or flex their arm if they think what the scripture says can give them and their families spiritual strength.
Close by sharing your testimony on the weeks topic.
